The White Helmets (2016)

I have punished myself today with a tough winner, about the White Helmets, first responders in Syria, facing every day the brutal effects of deadly airstrikes. It’s not unwatchable in terms of brutality and tragedy, but as you can tell it’s highly dramatic. There are uplifting moments, and it also gives a different perspective on the topic, as seen at times from their training ground. The miracle baby and the brother scenes are quite effective.

While I am aware of the controversy or the spinning that can be put on the activity of some white helmets, that wasn’t the purpose of this documentary, and this is not focused on taking sides in the Syrian war, but more on the social aspect.
