In 1942, in the middle of WWII, Walt Disney produced this propaganda film, where Donald dreams he’s in Nazi Germany and is exploited by the regime. The short animation is a justified hit-piece on Nazism. Objectively, there are some laughs in those 8 minutes, but it’s not remarkable animation, beyond its incendiary topic.

It’s a satire that I both enjoyed, but also felt a bit uncomfortable about (Donald’s numerous Heil Hitlers, even as he’s portrayed against the regime), while ALSO admiring the balls Disney and the entire production had in putting it together. A piece of film history, for sure.
