I had never seen Sleepless in Seattle from start to finish, though it kept playing on HBO when I was a kid. I guess it’s considered one of the most romantic films, and, while I guess there is some romance going on, it’s also terribly unrealistic and silly. 😊 I can tell that’s deliberate, but this is hardly a remarkable love story, since the characters are separated from one another for 95% of the film.

So I question some of the motivations from the screenplay, but I can admit it’s at least as interesting as your average romantic comedy. Meg Ryan is by far the outstanding one, creating a touching performance about loneliness, bringing her usual high energy, and she’s a good crier.
