Missing Link (2019)

Missing Link looks very nice, with its gorgeous animation and use of colour, but it just doesn’t work, because the writing is not good. Not that all animation films need to be funny, but this one just isn’t. The main human character is boring, the girl in the film feels like an afterthought, the villain is totally ignorable and the last 15 minutes are just stupid.

Mr. Link is a nice character, but even most of his jokes fall flat. At least he makes it watchable. Not all films that are massive box office disasters (and this one was probably the biggest fail of 2019) are in fact  bad films, but in this case you can tell they put way too much money in an uninteresting story. My rating is not lower because of the work put into the visuals.
