After The Addams Family, I knew my affection for director Barry Sonnenfeld was real. Not that all his films are great, we know that loud & clear, but regardless of the writing (great - Addams Family or unfortunate - Wild Wild West) he can make his movies more fun than they’d deserve to.

Men in Black is a purely commercial project, but very well put together from a technical point of view (makeup, visual effects, production design…) and entertaining as the summer blockbuster it is. Some jokes landed and getting Will Smith was very inspired casting.

I give it: 7.5/10
